Lap Appendicectomy Process

A laparoscopic appendectomy involves the surgeon inserting a laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera and a light at the end, through a number of small abdominal incisions. The camera sends pictures of what's going on inside the abdomen to a monitor in the operating room. This lets the surgeon see the appendix and the tissues around it. Then, to remove the appendix, the surgeon puts other small tools through the other cuts. The appendix is separated from the colon and taken out of the belly. Lastly, sutures or staples are used to close up the small cuts.
